Between August 25th – September 13th 2014, the University staged a major public engagement ‘experiment’. For 3 weeks the University’s Public Engagement Working Group ran our first ever research pop-up shop called ‘Think Corner’, in the heart of Birmingham’s city centre. Every day Think Corner welcomed in the general public to come meet, chat and engage with some of our brightest and most enthusiastic researchers, who each contributed different activities and displays in an ever-changing 3 week programme of events.
A University of Birmingham research shop, “Think Corner”, will pop up soon in the city centre, opening its doors to the public from 25th August to 12th September, coinciding with the British Science Festival on campus. This is FREE space for public engagement activities, which could be anything from hands-on demos to citizen science, soapbox talks to in-depth discussion. And we’re keen to have a really wide range of research on show – across arts, humanities, science and engineering. Continue reading
From 25th August until 12th September 2014 there will be a research ‘pop-up’ shop in the city centre, providing a free, flexible space for academics, students and staff to engage with the public, based in the Pavilions shopping centre. Showcasing the breadth of our arts, humanities, science and engineering excellence, we are keen to tailor the space to suit your ideas and make it an incredibly interactive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
