Nilesh Samani is British Heart Foundation Professor of Cardiology at the University of Leicester and Director of the NIHR Leicester Cardiovascular Biomedical Research Unit and Consultant in Interventional Cardiology at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester.  He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and an NIHR Senior Investigator.  His research is focused on understanding the genetic basis of common cardiovascular diseases.Prof Samani

Over the previous eight years, large-scale genome-wide association studies have identified multiple genetic loci that affect risk of coronary artery disease.  This presentation will discuss the current state of the discovery process, what we have learnt and illustrate the clinical translation potential of the findings.
