The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Invention for Innovation (i4i) Challenge Awards invite applications in the area of Oncology Diagnostics, aiming to improve medical practice by better prevention, earlier and more precise diagnosis, early intervention and more tailored treatment, all of which can help improve clinical outcomes, avoid side effects and contribute to overall cost savings. Deadline for applications 27 May 2015 1:00 pm
Applications may be focused on:
- Innovative developments in imaging of the whole body, organ or tissue
- Novel approaches for more effective endoscopy and biopsy examinations
- Molecular diagnostic tests
- Approaches that lead to more effective treatment selection, efficacy monitoring and outcome determination.
Lead applicants must be from NHS organisations in England or Wales and form partnerships with UK Universities and/or companies based and conducting R&D in the UK.
Applications must describe how the proposed solution will be integrated into the pathway of care and the establishment of multi-centre collaborations to facilitate robust validation and quicker translation into the clinic is strongly encouraged. Involvement of one of the NIHR Diagnostic Evidence Co-operatives in particularly welcome.
