INSPIRE is an initiative run by the Academy of Medical Sciences. The programme aims to nurture interest in clinical academic careers.
On Wednesday, 26 November the 2nd INSPIRE Networking Dinner was held at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. 46 medical students, from all years and programmes, who have shown a genuine interest in a career in academic medicine, were nominated to attend by Programme Leads. Each table was hosted by two clinical academic staff. The networking Dinner provides an opportunity for students to mix with more senior clinical academics in relaxed surroundings, and draw upon their vast experience and expertise. The evening went very well, with lots of positive feedback from the students and hosts who attended. The students made many valuable contacts both with academics and senior peers and will, we hope, have been inspired to consider a future career in academic medicine.
